What is the purpose of a hand towel?

Hand towels are smaller than bath towels and are designed for quick drying of hands after washing. They are commonly placed near sinks in bathrooms, kitchens, and powder rooms for easy access.

How to pick the perfect hand towel?

When choosing a hand towel, consider material, size, and absorbency. Cotton hand towels, especially those made from Egyptian or Turkish cotton, are soft, highly absorbent, and quick-drying. For a cohesive look, select colours and textures that complement your bathroom or kitchen decor.

How many days can you use a hand towel?

It’s best to change hand towels every two to three days, especially in high-traffic areas. Since they are frequently used and can retain moisture, regular washing helps prevent bacteria buildup.

How often should hand towels be replaced?

Hand towels should be replaced every one to two years, depending on usage and care. If your towels start to feel rough, lose absorbency, or develop an odour even after washing, it’s time for an upgrade.

How many hand towels should I have?

A good rule of thumb is to have at least three to four hand towels per bathroom; one in use, one in the laundry, and one or two as backups. If you have guests frequently, consider keeping extra hand towels available for a fresh and hygienic experience.

How to prevent hand towels from getting stiff and scratchy?

To keep your hand towels soft and plush: - Avoid using too much detergent, as residue can make towels feel rough. - Skip fabric softeners, which can coat the fibres and reduce absorbency. - Tumble dry on low heat or air dry to maintain their softness. - Shake towels out before drying to help keep the fibres fluffy and absorbent.
